Sweet Tomatoes

Sweet Tomatoes Pizza Cart

Thin Crust, Thick Lines.

“It was just a summer job,” says Hedy Jamass, owner of Sweet Tomatoes Pizza. After graduating college, she was unsure of what direction to pursue. Her dad floated the idea of being a waitress to gain what he termed as “real life experience”. A Boston native, she opted to spend her summer working at Sweet Tomatoes Pizza on Cape Cod. While she was under the impression that she would be working as a hostess, she got thrown into making pizzas the first night. Hedy will tell you it was definitely stressful, but she quickly fell in love with the adrenaline and comradery of the fast-moving kitchen. As she moved up in ranking, the original owner, Christopher Owens, offered to have her take over the franchise. Twenty-four years, a fleet of food trucks, two new locations and a catering business later, Hedy is still running the show, managing over fifty employees and keeping customers coming back for their Neapolitan-style thin crust pizza. While a lot has changed over the course of over two decades, the recipe Hedy has loved since 1998 has remained the same. On Fridays, lines stream around the block to try their special pie, made with a pesto base, fresh garlic, basil, mozzarella and of course, sweet tomatoes.
