Harmony’s Kitchen
Soul Food
From The Bronx To Burlington.
“In the Bronx, I can eat any food, from all over the world,” declares Harmony Edosomwan of her childhood home. She recalls watching her mother in the kitchen as one of her earliest memories; Harmony was preparing her own dishes at the age of nine. She left New York City to study English and American Sign Language at the University of Vermont, where she found herself with enough spare time to make some extra money. So, Harmony began cooking. What started as a side-hustle to feed her classmates grew into a catering business, a pop-up, and a Burlington favorite. Harmony’s “afro-fusion soul food” whisks together Southern, Nigerian and Puerto Rican cuisines with a Vermont twist – think fried chicken, Nigerian stew, rice and beans, and maple glazed cornbread. Harmony makes her food to build community, just like the meals of her childhood. She partners with local farms and chefs, and tours across New England to change the way people think about and eat soul food.
