Our partner, Maria, started Maria Bonita Catering more than a decade ago. A mother of two, Maria is a domestic violence survivor. Selling her tamales from a shopping cart under the No. 7 train on Roosevelt Avenue in Queens, proved to be her path to freedom. Eventually she set up L'Adelita, a restaurant in Woodside, Queens where she mentors and employs women.
