Sabah House
The Story
Sabah’s House is really a home on wheels; a truck that grants eaters a seat at the table with a family and its culture. Sabah’s own family left Iraq in 2015 and settled in Vermont, where traditional Middle Eastern dishes like shawarma were a tether to home. 5 years later, Sabah and her family felt compelled to share those flavors with their community. What began as a small venture for friends and neighbors blossomed into a family company and a food truck that found its home in Burlington’s Church Street marketplace. Sabah is often in her home kitchen, working with exotic spaces and age-old recipes for the menu’s star dishes. Her husband procures fresh ingredients– sometimes, all the way from Boston–, while her son mans the shawarma spit, and her daughter organizes the business together. A plate served at Sabah’s is an invitation home.
